| PUTING
IT TOGETHER Playing with logos and status branding is a clever
way to tweak the consumer economy we live in. Here's a fun way to
do it.
You'll need:
-Iron on transfer paper
-A color printer or copier
-Scissors
-Image to scan in or photocopy
-T-shirt or polo shirt
-Iron
-Ironing board
Start by picking out an image to copy. We used a charming allig…
uh, crocodile that we scanned into the computer from a shirt. We then
enlarged the image to gargantuan proportions and printed it out. Then
we ironed it on to a t-shirt following the instructions on the transfer
paper package so it was placed in approximately the same spot as it
would have been on a brand name shirt, but because of the size it
wrapped around under the arm. Be sure not to violate any copyrights
when you create your shirt. Alter the logo slightly to keep from incurring
the wrath of copyright attorneys everywhere. Since we produced this
project, Ralph Lauren has come out with his own version of it parodying
his own Polo logo by enlarging it about 10 times on a polo shirt.
His wasn't an iron on transfer, however.
