| PUTING
IT TOGETHER This is a fun project. Were making pillows out of towels stuffed with old nylons. Why, you may ask. They make great gifts and are perfect for taking on long trips in the car or to the beach, they also make pretty portable presents for a pal's patio, but most of all, they're perfect for outdoor use because they won't rot if they get left out in the rain - pantyhose is non-biodegradable. You'll need:
-Towels - tea towels, hand towels, bath towels, wash rags - new or
vintage in good condition Start by folding your towel in half and stitching it together along two sides - you don't need to worry about turning the towel inside out once it's been stitched together. The finished edges look fine. Then stuff the towel with the nylons - it takes quite a bit of hosiery to fill up a pillow, so start collecting early. Stitch the last edge closed and you have your pillow. You can use a hand towel or tea towel for a throw pillow, a bath towel for a floor cushion or even a bed pillow in a pinch and two washrags stitched together make an adorable accent pillow. Scent your pillows by spraying the nylons with a favorite perfume. These pillows are so easy to clean, they can be tossed into the washing machine and dried in the dryer or just left out in the sun. |
