PUTING IT TOGETHER

Recovering lampshades isn't as complicated as it seems, and it's a wonderful way to create a custom accent for your home!

You'll need:

-An old lamp shade
-Spray paint
-Heat resistant paper
-Ribbon
-Hole punch
-Pencil

Begin by taking the old covering off the shade. It will be used as the pattern for your new shade cover. You'll want to work with a paper-covered shade for this project. Soft fabric covered shades with upright wires are more complicated to cover. Lay out the covering on your heat resistant paper and trace around it. Then cut the new shade cover out. We'll be lacing the shade to the frame. Use your hole punch to put holes along each of the curved edges, then starting at a corner begin to lace the paper to the frame using the ribbon. Lace it all the way around and tie the ribbon off to itself. Repeat the process with the other edge and your shade is finished! We trimmed the shade with a little ball fringe and it looked just darling on our pink lamps.
