FOR LIVING This time around we made over the space into a mod colonial kitchen/great room. The combination of mod colors and traditional furniture and accessories makes for a decidedly mid-century statement. The ceiling beams lent a rustic feel to the room while the lovely Windsor chairs and trestle table added a bit of authenticity. Details in the room include a centerpiece made of old fashioned tomato/strawberry pin cushions, a plaid carpet, cafˇ curtains, and needle work touches. The colonial style has been long overdue for a comeback. It's easy welcoming tones and sturdy esthetic is perfect for our busy 21st century lifestyle, and the whimsy of mid-century color stories and proportions makes it seem hip and fresh.
