DESIGN FOR LIVING

Our room this time represented all the sins, even the oft forgotten anger (the red chair and painting). The green (envy) and pink color scheme was accented with gold (greed) for a richly elegant room done in the Hollywood Regency style - a style born of the mid-century decadence of the entertainment industry's epicenter. The combination of sleek modern lines, rich finishes and rococo accents was a favorite among Hollywood's elite in the heyday of the Rat Pack. The lounge (sloth) creates welcoming corner in which to sit and gossip and preen on the gold phone (pride) while the generous bed welcomes sins of the flesh (lust) and the chocolate at bedside is the embodiment of gluttony. This room is the ultimate in over-the-top style and would be the perfect old Hollywood star's bedroom. This style of furniture has become quite valuable of late for its kitschy qualities, and when it's massed together in it's original "habitat" so to speak it speaks volumes about it's owner's hubris - or sense of humor.
