PUTTING IT TOGETHER

Remodeling a home is a life changing experience. When the renovation is done and you've been living with the results for a while it can be hard to remember what the rooms looked like before you started. Creating a shadow box remembrance piece using some of the debris, cast off objects, can save that little piece of our history.

You'll need:

-Construction debris and documentation of the old room, including but not limited to paint
chips old snap shots and blue prints
-Hot glue gun with heavy duty glue sticks
-Shabby chic shadow box frame or white painted frame to distress
-Sand paper

If your frame needs distressing, you can sand away some of the finish along the edges. Mount the blueprints on the interior surface of the frame and cut to size. Then attach the various items you've collected to the blue prints (Fig. 1) and place in the frame.

You can keep the frame as a reminder of what things were like before, or you can give it to your contractor in recognition of all the hard work he's done - provided he's done any.
