Since 2017, Brini has hosted a weekly craft night at Club Cumming
Day Camp for Adults
Make It with Brini started out as a knitting night and has since morphed into a craft night that’s like day camp for adults with cocktails and innuendo.
What’s special about the event is the sense of community that has formed around it. New attendees are welcomed and encouraged to join regulars at the tables or bar for conversation and crafting.
A Cocktail (or two) & A Craft
Each week we explore a different craft designed to pair well with a drink and conversation. The crafts have ranged from paper flowers, origami and scrapbooking to Spirograph, chenille stem flowers and the ever popular Shrinky Dink.
We have yearly quests, such as an annual Easter bonnet night, just before Easter Sunday in preparation for a group outing to the Easter parade on 5th Avenue, and occasionally guest presenters like Vicky Howell or Jennifer Perkins.
Fiber crafts like knitting and crochet form a foundation of the event, with more accomplished members teaching newbies in the “Knit Lounge,” while others do the craft planned for the evening.
Supplies are almost always provided so casual attendees can participate too.
Crafting & Community
Adding to the sense of community are features like show and tell, where attendees share recently completed projects with the crowd.
Occasionally, regular attendees also share their skills by leading craft demonstrations themselves.
A weekly bake-off theme is established, and people bring baked goods and other treats to share with the crowd.
